Building Labs Workshop: How to build and maintain a justice-based lab

2 minutes

August 6 & 7th 1:00 – 4:00 pm (NDT)

Join us for the Building and maintaining a justice-based lab workshop!

August 6th, 7th

How do we create research spaces (broadly defined) that exemplify humility, equity, and good land relations? How do we address power dynamics in these spaces? This series of workshops brings together members of different justice-oriented, Indigenous-led labs to discuss some of our tactics and strategies for explicitly addressing power structures at the everyday level of operating a research space. Topics for discussion will include:

  • funding and payments
  • student and staff management
  • authorship and attribution
  • hiring and membership
  • and other professionalization and research relationships.

Each day will cover different topics and be a continuation of the day before, but attendance each day is not required. Come as and when you can.
